Óbidos is a remarkably well-preserved medieval village, offering an enchanting and picturesque setting for a leisurely stroll.
However, Óbidos offers more than just historic architecture; it boasts several unique facets:
Throughout the year, Óbidos hosts a variety of fairs and festivals, including the renowned International Chocolate Festival, among many others.
This village has a deep-rooted literary tradition, traditionally dedicated to the world of literature. For more information, visit Óbidos Vila Literária.
Óbidos historically connects with “ginjinha,” a sour cherry liqueur. Explore more at Real Ginja de Óbidos.
In Óbidos, you can enjoy savoring a ginjinha served in a delectable chocolate cup, enabling you to relish the liqueur and the “glass” it comes in.

Regarding the Monastery of Batalha, UNESCO’s official website provides a fascinating insight:
“The Monastery of the Dominicans of Batalha was built to commemorate the victory of the Portuguese over the Castilians at the battle of Aljubarrota in 1385. It was to be the Portuguese monarchy’s main building project for the next two centuries. Here a highly original, national Gothic style evolved, profoundly influenced by Manueline art, as demonstrated by its masterpiece, the Royal Cloister.” in UNESCO website
Our guided tour of this exceptional monument is scheduled for the afternoon.
After the tour, visit the battle site with your private guide.
