In the 18th century, the modern Douro Valley was officially demarcated as a wine production area, marking the beginning of its storied history. Explore this region’s deep past.

You’ll explore the highlights of the Douro Valley during a three or four-day excursion, depending on your departure from Porto or Lisbon.

To taste Douro wine and indulge in local cuisine at renowned wineries, go there. Discover the nuances of Port wine, including white Port, by exploring renowned wineries.

Sail privately on a traditional Rabelo boat, once used for transporting Port wine barrels to Vila Nova de Gaia’s warehouses.

This tour has two versions:

  • starting/ending in Lisbon (you are on the correct page);

We meticulously design this tour to ensure:

  • During the booking process, we support customers in combining programs or destinations.
  • The program maximally includes services to enhance customer convenience.
  • Throughout the journey, a local tour guide actively facilitates service connections and assists clients. In emergencies, they actively offer support.

From day one, the tour leader guides and facilitates service connections for the program.

Our tour guide will pick you up and drop you off at specified locations, such as Lisbon, for door-to-door service.

Our seasoned professionals with in-depth knowledge of the locations and monuments throughout the tour use licensed vehicles following Portuguese regulations.

  • We choose the hotels for this tour from the list provided above. However, before making any reservations, availability must be reconfirmed. If there is a need to switch to alternative hotels, the price can be adjusted accordingly.

These selected places hold individual appeal, as confirmed by their reputation.

Conimbriga – one of the best preserved places of the Portuguese Roman heritage.

Coimbra – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Convent of Christ – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Included in the Douro Valley tour (from Lisbon version):

  1. Dedicated vehicle with water and snacks throughout the four-day tour.
  2. Program organization.
  3. Dedicated guide, driver, and occasional local guides.
  4. Meals:
    • Three breakfasts are included in hotel overnights.
    • Four lunches, one at a luxury wine farm and three in local restaurants.
    • Three dinners: two in the hotel restaurant and one at a local restaurant in Pinhão for a local experience.
    • Note: All meals include appetizers, a main course, dessert, wine, water, or beer. The included options for dishes and wines are those to be mentioned at the respective time by the Tour Leader.
  5. Monument entrance fees: Roman ruins of Conimbriga, Coa Valley Museum, and the Convent of Christ.
  6. Dedicated guide and driver – the dedicated guide will conduct most of the guided visits except the following included guided visits:
    • Guided wine cellar visit and wine tasting in Portwine farm;
    • Guided wine cellar visit in Douro wine cellar (still wines);
    • Guided visit to the prehistoric site of Coa Valley;
  7. Private wooden boat ride
  8. Train tickets on the Douro train line ride.
  9. Three overnights in one of the hotels mentioned above, sharing a room  (single usage also available)

Price, reservation and cancellation

  • 3.500 Eur/person for a 2 people group
  • 3.150 Eur/person for a 4 people group
  • 2.850 Eur/person for a 6 people group
  • Single supplement: 700 Eur

Reservation

Your reservation is confirmed upon receipt of a 1,200 EUR deposit per person, securing your spot on the scheduled tour.

Please send us an email using the address provided in the “Information and Reservations” section below, and we will respond promptly.

Cancellation

The cancellation costs are as follows:

  • Up to 90 days before the 1st Tour Day, bank fees are applied to the Reservation payment (*).
  • Between 89 and 60 days before the 1st Tour Day, a 25% charge of the Reservation is incurred.
  • Between 59 and 45 days before the 1st Tour Day, a 50% charge of the Reservation is incurred.
  • Between 44 and 30 days before the 1st Tour Day, a 75% charge of the Reservation is incurred.
  • 29 days or less before the 1st Tour Day, a 100% charge of the Reservation is incurred.
    (*) Note: VISA/Paypal charges us approximately 5% of all received values.
